The new 2023 Prius will be revealed and livestreamed this wednesday, the 16th of November.
The new 2024 Impreza will be revealed and livestreamed this thursday, the 17th of November.
CARB's goal is to have 35% of new vehicle sales be Zero Emission vehicles by 2026, but they will permit 28% BEVs and 7% PHEVs but only if the PHEV can go 50 miles on electric only mode. Toyota's only contribution so far is the Mirai which sold 1,437 vehicles in the US in the first 9 months of 2022. Presumably they were all in California as it is the only state that has hydrogen refueling staions,
So if the new Prius can reach 50 miles electric only, they will qualify in 2026. Of course that would mean doubling the current 25 mile electric only range for the Prius Prime
