If you're stuck on a 50 kw the Ioniq 5 likewise takes over an hour to charge to 80% same as the Bolt.
Why do people without them keep saying it takes an hour to reach 80%? It's never taken me that long to go from 20-80%. It takes that long or longer to get to 100%, which is why no one does it out on the road.

560 miles is probably a 'long distance' / total day's drive for many. As mentioned, a 300 mi range EV would only have to charge once, which could be a lunchbreak for Joe Average.
560 miles I haven't even dropped to 1/2 tank in my ICE, and I'm not ready to stop yet.

Best to leave at 40% as that's when the Bolt starts slowing down. But that's mitigated by that only gives you about 100 miles of range. That's what you do though to add 100 miles in 30 minutes a GM likes to advertise. See above, 38% in 30 minutes. Pretty spot on 100 miles of range in 30 minutes. Problem is you have to run to pretty much dead.
edit: full charge time off cause I can't do maths.

YMMV
Yeah, not that good on either of my ICE cars. One of them really does grind my gears as it gets about 22 mpg and only has a 13.2 gallon tank. Most I've put in it is 12.6 which is a few miles after empty on the gauge, usually looking more around a 260 mile range. Now on an EV at least you're not stopping at the gas station every 260 miles since you can plug in at home. On trips though it's very much YMMV. Some people aren't bothered stopping for over an hour every 200 miles for a fillup at the sorts of big box stripmalls that generally have the charges. Particularly on those longer trips that 260 miles of gas range has been annoying to me and that's gas and I already find it annoying. Other one gets about 480. The old RAM 2500 was nice since it had an 86 gallon tank. Not cheap to fill up but only needed to do it about every thousand miles. Diesel would have been even better.

Yep, my truck runs 700 miles between refills and normally I have no real need to stop within 560 miles.
Same with diesel diesel sedan.
You need to put that into perspective....the video says they ran a 900 KM trip. For us "Yankees", that's 560 miles. Averaging 60 MPH, that's just over 9 hours of driving. To me, adding an hour of time, to a 9 hour trip, is rather significant.
(oh, wait a minute, you can get a meal, and use the rest room, each time you HAVE to stop.....silly me!)
I can't drive 5 hrs without a stop. I get stiff and frankly have to pee more often than that. A fifteen minute stop every three hours is something I already do.
Nice comparison, although I’d be interested to replicate this in the US, in winter, and maybe not between two major cities but instead, between, say, a sizable metro area to a vacation location, like a National Park or Ski Resort, and then see if there’s a difference.
I know people get touchy about any EV criticism on this forum, so this isn’t me trying to be anti-EV. Just curious to see how other scenarios would play out since it sounds like they picked a fairly optimal route to do this test.
This guy did a summer and winter road trip in his Tesla and gives a pretty even-handed overview of it.
What did I say that was incorrect? Lemme guess, you own an EV?
