Why do we tax payers have to pay each EV owner to buy their vehicle? That’s the only part I have a problem with.
Same reason we let government dictate how much pollution we could generate in our cars and how safe our cars must be. This is the next step in pollution controls. And to get it done faster (since neither consumers nor businesses want to stop polluting) incentives were determined to be the best answer (just like subsidies for oil keep our oil companies competitive world wide).
Now, the $7500 tax credit is just that, a tax CREDIT. If I get it it doesn't affect YOU any more than my home office tax credits do. Or my mortgage deduction.

He wants oil companies to get breaks from tax payers but hates to the point of boiling anger when we get it back. Very odd. Doesn’t track with the politics typically claimed by those who seethe over EVs.
Silence has nothing to do with my choice. I don’t like paying taxes. You do apparently. You’re playing for the side you claim to hate. It’s odd. Common nowadays, but still odd.

The government is not collecting less taxes because of CREDITS, it’s taking it from other things. You should donate the $7,500 you didn’t have to normally pay to some charity. As of January 1, 2023 the $7,500 is given as cash in hand on purchase. Apparently to you that $7,500 falls from some random money tree.

Sell EV’s without government intervention is all, really simple.
So I get to fund your tax credit and roads you drive on so you can drive a silent car because you have a problem with loud noises. Got it
And if you're driving a Suburban like mine, you're funding the roads that Civics and Priuses drive on, but you have no problem with that, do you? And again, YOU do not fund someone else's tax credit, whether it's for an EV, a home office, or childcare, or any one of a few hundred different tax credits available to the average citizen. I have a certain tax burden based on my income, tax bracket, deductions and credits. And that tax burden is the exact same for me, REGARDLESS of any tax credits or deductions YOU take. And vice versa. Any tax burden YOU owe doesn't change based on any deductions or credits *I* take. Even if I paid NO tax, YOUR tax amount wouldn't change even by a penny.
Now, next year, when that tax credit becomes cash on the hood, you could have a point IF your tax burden goes up a similar amount. Otherwise it's still not making any difference to YOUR finances.
