I know Amsoil is used by alot of racers at our local dirt tracks and was wondering if anyone out there has used it in their regular car or truck? Is it worth the extra hassle because Amsoil is not sold everywhere like the big names.
Might not be worth using as it's not certified for use. Might void your auto warranty.
Not really sold at all, you have to be a amsway dealer to get it.
two types of people : amway dealers and those who avoid them.

Amsoil is in no way related to Amway, which is a pyramid scheme sales organization that sells home care, cleaning and health products.
By comparison, Amsoil is a top-quality synthetic lube manufacturer whose products have been completely proven in many high stress automotive and other applications. It's company originator, a fighter pilot named LIEUTENANT COLONEL ALBERT J. AMATUZIO (hence the name, not from Amway, yah idiot!) recognized the advantages of heat-and breakdown-resistant synthetics following his experience with synthetic aerospace lubes, and he created the first synthetic motor oil.
I'm a now-retired automotive engineer who worked with GM and several Japanese automotive corporations. In no way does Amsoil negate your warranty, and my personal experience with it in my current diesel engined F350 is that it reduced oil consumption, the engine actually runs cooler and my fuel economy rose about 0.4 mpg average on long drives.
I also use it in my Ford E4OD automatic transmission, and it's performance improved significantly over the factory non-synthetic ATF in the original trans., which, BTW, failed as most E4ODs did, prematurely, from lack of proper lube & high operating temps.
On the other hand, I personally don't entirely go with their claims for long oil change-out frequencies, which is a bit higher than I'm comfortable with. But several durability tests using NY City taxis and three types of brand-name motor oils, one being a synthetic, proved that long oil change intervals (as long as you maintain the correct oil level) did not significantly increase wear. However synthetics provided superior protection in high-temp, high-stress applications.
Yes, I did sigh on as an Amsoil dealer, but only to purchase it for myself at a lower price, because I use it in four vehicles and one off-road vehicle. I have never wanted or tried to sell it to anyone because every car and truck shop owner has likely signed on and I'd have no real market.
It's amazing the BS that's out there! Go to Amsoil.com/company to find out for yourself!
Amway... what nonsense! (And apparently you didn't even read yourownlink from Lotus Talk, where they absolutely refute any corporate connection, and note Amsoil's excellent reputation. Jeez!)

smells like a duck, looks like a duck, .....
But what did you find? And also, why then did Amway try to legally stop Amzoil (the original spelling after the Amsoil originator's name) from using that AM part of the name? Law suits within one company?
Nope; sorry. You got it completely wrong this time. By your reasoning, AM General (who builds mil-Hummers), AMC (which built AMC Pacers, yikes!), AM Radio, and AM-Tran, to name but a few, must all be AMway products, huh?
Ladies & Gents: I just went to Amway.com, and, under their search engine typed in "Amsoil".
Got this result, immediately:
"Search Term "amsoil" yielded no results."
Then, notice their banner options that say:
Nutrition & Wellness Beauty Bath & Body (and) For The Home.
Amsoil is one of the best available. I highly recommend it. Like Rifleman, I have no idea where the Amway connection came from, but it's completely bogus.
I will agree that they may be unrelated as I have no interest either way.
The friends of mine who were in stock car racing always used Castrol, (and yet I have been using Mobil 1 despite them) but they always stood by their statements that amsoil was amway.
,,,,C'mon! Be a big boy and admit it! You're wrong!
I am wrong on so many counts, no idea on this one!
