Im trying to sell a set of 4 studded tires on craigslist. They came off my 98 ford escort but they are very lightly used.
I have a question.
I just now noticed that they are 2 different brands and sizes. Well, they don't look to be 2 different sizes but this is what it says on them
One say (snow radial)
175/70R14
84Q
The other 2 says(winter-force)
185/65 R14
86S
They came off the car when I bought it so they must both fit the car right, im just surprised because they are not the same size.
I'm a dummy when it comes to this so please spread some light to my ignorance

You're not getting very much for them. I wouldn't pay more than a hudred bucks (if that) for the set.
Ok, so can you answer my question?
And I am not selling them for more then a 100, and to me that's pretty good considering they are like new. The tires are only a couple of years old. Not as old as the car.

You may do better to sell them as 2 pairs of tires. They are both OK for the 14" wheels of your Escort and any other reasonably narrow 14" wheel.
They are slightly different size, the winter-force tires are slightly wider. It's not exact, but the winter-force tires should be 65% of 185 millimeters "tall" (distance from the edge of the wheel to the edge of the tire I think, or maybe it's from the tread to the bead, does not matter much as the manufacturers take considerable liberty with these measurements)
The snow radial tires are 70% of 175 millimeters "tall". Theoretically.
Anyway, if you want them to sell fairly quick, probably Egg is about right on the price you should ask - offhand I would say $25 each or $90 for all 4 (make the buyer feel like they got a bargain).
If all 4 tires end up on one car, probably the winter-force, wider tires should end up on the rear axle, regardless if it's FWD or RWD - reason being, you want your front tires to slide before the rear on a car, if your front tires slide under braking force you will lose most directional control until you back off the brake a little, but the car will remain stable. If your rear lock up, unless you are going dead straight on a perfectly level road (where can you find that?) the car will immediately start to spin.
I wouldn't put these 4 tires on an AWD car, for AWD such as Subaru, Audi, I would definitely go with 4 tires that match.
Whoever buys these should probably go to a used tire seller to get them mounted, certainly any chain tire store will find some reason that they can't mount these and try to sell the guy new ones...The local used tire guys mount what I bring in without giving me any grief...$6 out the door too...Gotta love those guys!
I'd probably give you $50 for all four if I was looking for a used set of tires. It would also greatly depend on the amount of tread left and maybe the branding. The mismatched tires don't help much since most 14" wheels won't be staggered.

By "set" I assume you mean 4 tires.
Honestly, it's not that big a deal to have to different sized tires on a car - assuming that there are 2 of each size. Besides, those two tire sizes are extremely close to the same size anyway.
Are they just the tires, or are the tires on the rims?

No it is just the tires. When I bought the car the tires were on the car. But the lady who owned the car before me drove maybe 1000 miles on them, if even that. I replaced them right away and they have been stores away.

Thanks for all your answers.
Personally, I think you'll be stretching it to get $100 out of the set. Part of the reason is that whoever buys them will most likely have to pay a tire shop to install them. And unlike M3Mitch, who seems to have all the best connections, most people are going to get charged about $15-$20 per tire for the mounting and balancing. And when you start looking at a total of $150-$200 for a set of used tires, you start wondering why you're not just going new.

Good luck!
That's why a few posts above yours I stated that I'd likely pay $50.

I checked on craigs list and ebay and I don't see anybody selling their tires, used or new, for 50 bucks for 4 of them. Unless they are really used or worn. But that's just what O might have to do. Especially down here! If I even sell them at all.
I just hate to see them just sit there in storage.
