the fact is that no filter will filter the oil for much longer than 3,000>5,000 before the filter dump valve opens letting the oil bypass the filter BECAUSE THE FILTER IS PLUGGED PAST THOSE MILE RANGES.

I Amzoil for decades finding that I got the best results when I changed out the filter and add one quart to replace the oil in the filter that recharges the additive pack in the oil. I also learned the hard way NOT to switch an engine over the Amzoil late in the game. Amzoil is a powerful engine cleaner and it will clean all the old carbon left by mineral oil out and turn and engine into to a not stop oil burner!!!!!

Well respectfully, the auto industry disagrees with you.

Either todays engines can deal with poorer quality oil for longer or and frankly, far more likely, oil filters have evolved since the 60s'.

I know what I know from extensive engine testing with Amzoil,Redbrand, Mobil 1 and a few other 100% syn oils in both a lab & personal use testing environment. In each and ever case the filters became unacceptable after the miles stated in my early post.

How do I know this? I retired in 2003 as a Lead Quality Control Engineer for a major heavy equipment manufacture. I share our findings of our 2002 testing with all here in the hopes that the members here can become informed consumers on this controversial topic.
