If I got a Caprice, I would want the upscale cloth interior (which was the standard Caprice Classic interior, as seen in blue in that ad). They had four different interior levels. That leather was the optional interior on the Caprice Classic, then there was the upscale cloth in the Caprice Classic... the base Caprice had a plainer cloth interior, then some of the unmarked police editions, they had the Caprice cloth, but some had vinyl on the door panels, as opposed to the cloth on the civilian Caprice.
My vote is for the Caprice Classic cloth.
Ironically I have found a nice 1991 Caprice Classic (that has a slightly dented rear door) that has only 101K miles for only $800. Problem is, its in Minnesota (originally a California car, so no rust) and I am in Tennessee... thats quite a distance between Tennessee and Minnesota!

I already posted in the other thread about getting the Lincoln but the Caprice wouldn't be out of the question. Had a '91 for about four years maybe ten, eleven years ago. A very nice car but she did drop third gear just before 100K. Needless to say I was not amused at all. It wasn't abused or neglected, if anything it was over maintained as is my usual procedure.
Sold it for $400 to a demo derby guy (who didn't need third gear anyway), got a free pit pass and cheered him on.
But I chose the Caprice in the poll. For $800 you can drive the thing, sell it when you're done like I said in the other post and get half your money back.

If you can get your hands on a 94-96 you can have the 4.3L L99 or the 5.7 LT1. The 5.0L L03 and 5.7L L05 are just as reliable engines as the LTs, much simpler but they are not as fuel efficient.

or powerful the Lt1 is pumping out 260HP and would be fun and cheap to throw on a few bolt ons seeing as it is the same engine used in the 93-97 camaro's maybe put on some nice used set of LT4 heads and a more aggresive cam and have some fun
If you can find a good deal consider a Roadmaster, Brougham, or especially an Impala as well, but unless it's maybe a Caprice with Police Package I'd probably go with the Town Car. The Caprice might have some more novelty to it though in that some people make Impala SS clones out of Caprices.
I just realized that I never updated this thread, but did the other one. I ended up buying a 1991 Caprice Classic sedan with 144K. Its in really great condition and runs like a top. I need to still do some normal maintainence, but overall a super nice car to drive.
It has the upgrade cloth interior (since its the Classic trim) and in addition to that, it has the "group 2" option package, which added every option available that included passenger power seat, rear view mirror electronic compass, keyless entry, heated mirrors, Bose sound system, electric antenna, etc. It also has the FE3 suspension option, as well as posi-traction axle. Basically every option except for leather, which I really didnt want on this car.
Thanks again for all of the replies... I appreciated all of the advice.
btw, a Town Car later on is still not out of the quesion.
Looks really nice for a 91 you can tell it was taken care of, congratulations!
