The closest i have come is owning a 49 mercury . Its was a tank to say the least. Flat head V-8 and I sold it for much more than I paid for it because it had 10000 miles when I got it from my bother in laws aunt in 1969. I sold it to a guy that made rods; who wanted it to chop the top and rebuild itn as a rod. Perfect body with zero rust.

Yes, my dad was able to get an old Model A coupe cheap from a relative and that was the very first car I ever drove around the farm in the mid 1950's.

The trunk was taken off and we used it as a pick up.

I still remember it had a lever for-----spark

My first car was a 1940 Ford that I rebuilt the flat head V8 and the 3 speed overdrive tranny on along with many other parts. The car cost me $25 from an old friend and $25 to kid delivering papers in 1957 was a lot of money!!!!

My dad helped me with all the major work that I got stuck on otherwise I was on my own. I even painted the old Ford...with a brush barn siding red. (the paint was free)

Drove that car until I got outta high school in 1964.
