Do you know what I hope GM does? I hope they leave the Cruze as it is with a little engine and fwd and sells a ton of them. I hope they don't listen to kids wanting a 250hp awd system on a tiny fuel efficient car.

I also hope that boys will one day grow to be men and not buy a car based on the amount of plastic or faux carbon fiber or paper-lacquered-wood paneling that adorns the interior. This is the job for females.

What pertinent part? You putting down GM for cars they made 10 20 30 40 years ago? Even the Cavalier hasn't been made in 5 years. I don't care that the Vega wasn't a awesome car, it hasn't been made in 33 years.

You remember all those terrible small cars Ford made? Especially that damn Model T, what a piece of junk.

I certainly hope you picked up the sarcasm that time.

I may have missed you emoticon, but you sure miss the point. 30+ plus years of making junk small cars will make people skeptical...

I'm sure the car wasn't designed to appeal to people who can remember junky GM cars from 30 years ago.

It actually was. A huge segment of the automotive buying population still believes that GM/Ford (and Chrysler, but they are right with that one) are still making junk on wheels. This isn't unreasonable considering they spent decades doing just so. Just about every new model from both manufacturers is designed to higher standards with the hope of turning that perception around and in turn gaining new sales. There's no need to impress the current customer base since many of them were happy to buy junk for decades, the trick is getting all the other guys like deepcynic to make a purchase.

I just don't know where I was when American companies were making all these junk cars. I've had no serious issues out of domestics.

Granted the 80's were a horrific time for Domestics but other then that, I'm lost.

The 70s were horrific. The 80s were horrific. The 90s were horrific. And in the 2000s, 2 of the remaining 3 finally went bankrupt while the third had to sell or mortgage just about everything it had -- include its name, logo and other tademarks -- just to stay afloat.

Yep, you are lost!

That is apparent if you do not understand the junk that was produced in the small car realm by the domestic manufacturers in the last 40 years.

Mid-sized too. Had they not ruled the truck world, they'd have gone bankrupt probably a decade sooner.
