Watched it a million times and probably will watch it that many more. Just for fun count the amount of hubcaps lost on the Dodge.

One of the great all time movie car chases.

My personal favorite car "film" is C'était un Rendezvous. It was filmed in 1976 and is a short 10 minute film of a car ripping through Paris in the early AM with the driver on his way to meet a woman at Sacre Cure. There is a bit of rumor as to what the actually car is. The sounds you hear are definitely the directors personal Ferrari 275GTB, but people aren't sure that was the car used in the movie. The rumor is that the car was a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9 and the Ferrari sound track was dubbed over it. Either way it's a kick ass short film. If you ever saw "The Run" that Nissan put out in 2003 with a 350Z tearing through Prague, that short was a direct homage to Rendezvous.

The Charger loses a total of 6 hubcaps.

The Charger also took out a camera, as seen in the film.

The Bullit Mustang really needs some traction bars, as evident by the wheel hop while in reverse.

Steve McQueen did his own driving stunts. The bad guys were not really actors but none the less also stunt drivers hence why so quiet.

The speeds were real live shot at up to 115 mph around San Francisco.

Both Chargers were destroyed in the making of the movie; one Mustang was destroyed and the one that survived was sold to an employee of Warner Brothers.

Steve McQueen tried to buy the surviving Mustang years later but the owner would not sell. To this day that Mustang sits in a barn somewhere in an undisclosed location.

I like the part where the one bad guy actually takes time to roll down the window to shoot out at Bullit.

Even if they weren't actors, some emotions expressed by the occupants in the Charger I think would have added to the chase. They just act like they're driving along...not much sense of urgency to get away.

you'll never see a chase scene like that in a movie ever again. these new chase scenes are all about the explosions and flash, bang, boom, crap. my dad was telling me about this car just yesterday. the new cars just don't make those sounds anymore.

i hear so many ricers, and mustang wannabee's i forget what the real thing sounds like.
