The local TV in the area broadcast live video from the helicopters and the image of a floating body was shown on their TV as the relatives looked on and screamed and cried out. Something like this should have been put on a time delay so if and when a body is found they can cut the feed before it goes on the air out of consideration to the loved ones.

This is just crazy.
Why is it crazy? There were many car accidents in the USA today, mostly unrelated to each other. Sounds like overreaction.

I feel bad for pilots in these crashes. How easy for them to be blamed whether or not they were at fault....they can't defend their actions - hell, we don't know what they're trying to do in the final moments.
This was really the message...

Would there be a slim chance of survival? Say being blown to a land, on a tree? It's only 2-3 days so not enough to die of hunger.

Water temperature, stormy seas. Any kind of impact probably not survivable...but....we can all hope that some one did !

- If drafts, hail, turbulence, etc can't be detected, then why would trying to go above a storm ever be an option?

In a way I sympathize with airlines as if there was a policy to deviate your route it or to never take off in storms it'd cause delays and people would complain. OTOH if it saves lives it might be worth it.
Professional arm chair quarterbacks brought out by various news media have already mentioned AF 447 in relation to this incident. Their opinion is that the pilots of that flight "panicked" and did everything wrong/that they shouldn't have. One went further to day that if they had let the plane do what it was designed to do it would have come out of the bad weather on the other side fine, then they could have returned to auto-pilot and that would have been the end of things.

Several aircraft were behind/in the area of this AirAsia flight and thus experienced the same bad weather, they did not crash/reached their destinations safely.

I specifically said victim landed on a tree on land . There was a famous plane crash girl who survived after being trapped on a tree. Wonder how far the plane was from the coast.

The plane probably experienced a series of extreme weather events due to some combination of icing, severe updrafts and downdrafts in rapid succession and microbursts inside the storm. How the computer systems reacted and what the crew did to manage these events probably played a role, but my guess is that whatever weather was driving this was just too much handle all at once. I hope the story becomes clearer, once the data and voice recorders are recovered, but if it happened very quickly that might not be so easy.

It seems that one of victims was found wearing a life jacket.
