Any thoughts on this latest airline incident?

Default DeltA Kicks Off Family over a two year old in a Seat

Well here is another story of why people hate airlines today. After weeks of various issues of kicking people off, here's another I heard about when I was going into work today. A Delta flight crew went against protocol and forced a two year old in a car seat on a seat (within Delta's guidelines) but yet the crew kicked them of the overbooked flight from Hawaii to California, even after offering to have the kid sit on on one of the parent's laps. The family paid more than $2,000 to cover a flight to California the next day and a hotel room.

Maybe not handled in the best way, but infants IMO should be in laps of parents if there is no approved child seat available (just like being in a car). The parents should of just "lapped" the infants. But then again, I'm not them.

You pay for three seats, you get three seats.
I always bought and paid full price for a seat for my infant/toddler/etc kids.

Now, to be fair, the situation is complicated bc the seat was originally another kid's seat, but the kid went on an earlier flight.

The staff tells Brian Schear his younger son can't sit on the seat because Mason's name is on it, not the infant's.

Naw. Let's be real. The only reason they gave two craps is because they could use it as a reason to bump the kid out of his seat so they could give it to someone else.

But this one is weird and not so black and white.

Delta policy allows car seats though. Maybe Delta needs to go to Capital Hill like the other airlines did over their bump policies and lack of customer service... From what I heard the family had to pay $2000 for a hotel and the next fight out to California. SoCal family thrown off overbooked Delta flight over child's seating | abc7.com

In that last video it says the dad offered to hold the infant in his lap but it was "too late" and the whole family was booted.

They probably figured the poor sap who would end up sitting there probably wouldn't get along too well sitting next to them.

I wonder if they could have modified the ticket for the other kid. What a messed up situation.

Putting kids in car seats on planes always cracked me up. The chances are so slim that something were to happen.

Great way to handle the situation. Threaten to throw them in jail if they don't give up the seats. Drag 'em down the aisle as a bonus?

Yeah, we never did it.
We had a FAA approved harness, but that was pretty worthless, too.
But the point wasn't for safety. He said it was the only way the kid would sleep.
Which I'm sure the other passengers would have been happier with.
