I was at a B gate, and didn't see any smoking lounges... so either they're gone (as many are now), or I just didn't look hard enough! Honestly I was okay at that point, since I only had enough time to get a quick bite to eat on that leg. Food took priority, lol.
SFO, SJC (San Jose), and LAX, on the other hand, have all been 100% non-smoking for many years. As a Californian, I probably just assume all airports are like ours now.
My opinion is, if someone’s perfume or cologne is so strong that it would choke people, they shouldn’t be allowed on the plane until they wash it off, and/or change clothes.
Well, I think Delta banned peanuts for a bit because too many people didn't realize they were allergic to them.
As I said, smokers and peanuts are the enemies these days! I was waiting to board a plane once, when they announced "this will be a peanut-free flight due to a passenger's allergies." Meanwhile, these two women in front of me were DROWNING in perfume that was making my throat close... but if I'd asked to ban them, I probably would have been called a loon.
I'm also highly allergic to flowers, and yet nearly every grocery store has their floral department at the entrance - making it impossible for me to avoid. And when CVS stopped selling tobacco because "we care about your health," I had to wonder why they still sell candy, alcohol, and enough prescription drugs to kill a herd of horses. Selective concern/hysteria much?
I personally detest smokers myself. I got no problem with smokers though TBH. My problem is if they wanna kill themselves, ok, but lighting up and around those of us that don't smoke is the issue I have.
To me it seems like the psycho authoritarians types for some reason get to have airports as there private playgrounds to screw with people. Flying used to be fun, BYOB no problem and a smoking section even on the planes but now everything has gone stupid for some reason.
Better ways of getting nicotine if it's what you want. As a neutropic, I agree, nicotine is pretty decent. Not something I really realized until I did start smoking but it definitely gives a mild boost in things like memorization and recall, at least for me. Nothing huge, but noticeable. You can just chew some gum or stick a sticker on your bum though.
Yes, usually outside and at least 10 yards from the doorways.
Smokers stink, even if not smoking. They just don't know it, but the rest of us do.
I smoked for a few years without most people having any idea I did. Just practice basic hygiene. Stand up wind of your cigarette, air yourself out for a few minutes, wash your hands and pop a piece of gum. It's not going to help with those people with bloodhound quality sniffers or anyone who gets inside your personal space bubble. Humans have crap noses though so it's not really that hard to minimize. Your significant is going to know but there's no reason to go around smelling like an ashtray. That does depend on how heavy a smoker you are. I was about two packs a week at my heaviest. If you're chain smoking two packs a day, yeah, you're just going to smell like an ashtray.
Many non-smokers also stink, either due to sweat or dirty clothes.
Even people with coffee will stink whenever they open their mouth.
They just ignore that and target only smokers.
