I am a single mom and I am traveling to D.C with my mother and my son. My son wanted to go to a baseball game, but the Nationals are out of town. So he said that we could go to Baltimore to see the Orioles. Is it safe to walk from Penn Station to Camden Yards? Thanks

Generally speaking...yes.. particuliarly if you stay on Charles or St Paul Streets down to Pratt. The MTA Light Rail operates a Camden Yards-Penn Shuttle that goes directly from Penn to the stadium.. so that is available as well.

It's safe but kind of a long walk.

The Purple Route would get you there quick.

Yes.

You could also take the free Charm City Circulator: Home | Charm City Circulator

If you are coming during the week, take a Camden Line MARC train which brings you right to the ballpark: Camden Line Schedule HTML (http://mta.maryland.gov/services/marc/schedulesSystemMaps/camden_HTML.cfm - broken link)

The Circulator is a much better idea than walking.

This poor young man was walking from Penn Station to Charles Village when he was murdered. Unfortunately walking in Baltimore is harzardous. I would take a cab or Circulator.

Charles Village is North of Penn Station and Camden Yards which is what the OP asked about is South.

Different areas of the city

The question of the OP was about walking from Penn Station to Camden Yards.

The young man was walking alone late at night talking on a $400 cell phone. He stuck out like a sore thumb. One needs to exercise more caution than that. Perhaps you could include that information if you honestly think the rest of the forum is setting this woman and her kids up for sure murder.

But, alas, you've arrived at your conclusion: Walking in Baltimore is hazardous. It's if you ordered a pizza every friday night for a year, and one time out of 52 it was terrible, would you conclude that all pizza is terrible and will be forevermore?

Do you think you're doing some sort of community service by fearmongering?

And your conclusion is this wouldn't have happened if only he had walked south. I guess we add Charles Village to the ever growing list of dangerous places.

I thought I had heard everything, but are you seriously blaming this poor guy for being attacked and killed? I don't know (or think that it matters) how expensive his phone was and he was walking at 11:30 pm, which in my neighborhood finds many people out and about. You can't be serious.
