I live near Patterson park and there is street cleaning Mon, Tue, and Wed. It makes it a pain in the butt in the morning on those days to find parking since different sides of the street are restricted for parking. I've been on vacation for 2 weeks now and have never noticed once a street cleaning vehicle even going by to clean the areas that need to be cleared for supposed street cleaning. So does the city really do street cleaning or is it just a ploy to get money from parking tickets?

I used to live east of Patterson Park and I saw them occasionally. Not always, but they do exist.

For the most part, they exist and do clean the streets on a weekly basis. I am on Baltimore Street.

What is the point when people feel it is perfectly okay to toss garbage out their windows [of cars]?

I think those dirtiest city rankings where a godsend. Seems the city took it personal.

You got a point. I've always wanted to do a Wrigley Field-style "throw-it-back" but never found a perpetrator who was moving slow enough.

Also the streets really only get cleaned in the favored quarters.

I think it's more the case that some areas tend to accumulate trash a lot faster than others -- because so many residents consider the streets their personal trash can -- so the impact of street cleanings isn't always readily apparent.
