Hi All,

English Is not my first language! I want to improve my skills in spoken and comprehending English. My main problems are not too many vocabulary to use and some grammar mistakes. I feel I speak too fast and make long complicated sentences and thats why I make mistakes.. not sure( I am not confident and got confused and I stutter sometimes( However, I was told by an ESOL teacher that my English is advanced, and all I need is English conversation classes.. I have been searching for these classes but couldn't find something suitable because I don't have a car yet(.. I am really frustrated and meed your help..

I thought I can look for a college student living nearby who can help me in that.. I don't know how to do that and how to approach people about this request?? I am a stranger here and don't have friends.

I know it is complicated but what do you think the best bet for me?

Many thanks!

Americans are friendly. Don't be shy. Smile a bit and be friendly yourself. Most Americans would be intrigued meeting someone from another country.

By the way, the English you used in your post is very good.

Is IRC still active?
Back in the 90's I saw many people use that real time one on one text effectively.
Vocabulary, syntax, usage, punctuation, elements of grammar and even style.

The key being to find an active channel with articulate and well spoken people.

In person... like the immersion courses you should focus on people and places that are
engaged in doing what you already know something about. Expand from there.
