They should be happy that they got a damn T-shirt.

Begging for another handout for doing nothing. Perkins Homes is just a burden on the city.

The tax credit shows the city tax rate is too high and needs to be corrected for all. At least the developer is bringing money to the city and cleaning it up. If they don't get a tax credit then they will just go elsewhere so then the city would get nothing.

I have not problem with money going towards Perkins Homes since it was used for the sketchy tax break, but for the love of god don't put any money into that complex which will likely meet the wrecking ball in the next 5 years. Use it for job training or something.

Interesting perspective.. Seems like everyone is looking to capitalize on the "break" that is being offered. Who is entitled to it I guess becomes a matter of perspective. Its clear that this could present a stumbling block.. It amazes me that every major project from the Super Block, State Center (whats up with that anyway?) and now Harbor East always have significant amout of opposition especially from groups or organizations and even politicians who sometimes *gasp* exploit the process and the already divisive nature of our city to gain power or prestige. On one side you have folks who feel that "deals" are being cut and they are being left out and since they are affected/wronged real or percieved ...should be a part of the largess... The other side feels entitled to the "deal" because they feel they are taking all the risk and if it were not for them nothing would happen...

Baltimore's new name should be Entitlement City, MD.....

Utter insanity. First off why is the developer receiving tax credits any way? Isn't Baltimore a vibrant city capable of attracting private investment? Second it takes some real gall telling folks to spend their money on you. Is this what this country has become?

Lol @ job training. How naive, work is the last thing on these residents' minds.

True! The place is getting razed soon, this will all be forgotten and many of the residents will be Baltimore County residents. I was talking to a guy about Perkins homes a couple weeks ago, and he said it doesn't seem that bad... there was a shooting there the night before. You can't have violent crime right in between Little Italy, Harbor East, and Fells Point!

Anyway BBJ is insisting Perkins Homes is not in the enterprise zone anyway.
