My mom and I recently ventured out to Baltimore after visiting DC for a couple days. We spent the afternoon looking at Johns Hopkins, which was a slightly unnerving experience due to the nature of the surrounding area. My friend who went there actually gutted someone with a samurai sword who broke into his apartment, and after visiting the area I can certainly see how something like that could happen.
Anyway, that evening I was in the mood for some experimental eating so we ended up going to the Lebanese Taverna, a pseudo upscale joint in the Harbor East neighborhood. There weren't any blatant red flags that would have caused us to leave, but needless to say I would have been a lot better off if we would have. I ended up ordering the lamb, and while the flavor of the meat certainly felt off kilter and possibly even old, I foolishly ate almost all of it. Early the next morning, I woke up in a hot sweat and sprinted to the toilet. I coerced myself into thinking that I was okay to go back to bed, but before I knew it I was off to the races again with my head bowed over the toilet bowl. Within minutes, I felt the horrible meat being regurgitated and making it's way up my throat. I upchucked with true vigor twice and thought the nausea would relent, but found myself continuing to repeat this process until I was dry heaving. I felt nauseous throughout the day when my Mom and I were touring Richmond (which was a shame, because I liked Richmond), and that evening, a caesar salad I ingested at dinner at a Virginia beach hotel acted as a catalyst for more emptying of my innards. Needless to say I will not be returning to Baltimore anytime soon.

Yes thanks. Make sure you call them and let them know what happened. Bad food in a restaurant is definitely a health issue worth reporting.

Might be hard to prove, though. He mentioned that he then ate a salad that caused further symptoms. I had food poisoning in Mexico once....oh, it was dreadful. Not enough for me to write off going back to that city, but I completely understand.

And Mexico. Sorry bout your experiance, but in reality it could happen anywhere, even your own home. Baltimore leaves me a little nauseous even without eating.

and Cleveland ... I got food poisoning at a restaurant in Cleveland once. (Really, I understand writing off a particular restaurant, but not the whole city.)

The OP admitted that the lamb was "off" but still ate it. I definitely think that's a bit stupid, but I know he hangs with someone that has a blood stained samurai sword. I'll just apology for the entire City of Baltimore and send him/her on their way!

Could be food poisoning...

Though it sounds more like just a viral or bacterial issue.

The term "food poisoning" is almost like "flu" in that it is usually used improperly by most people.

True "food poisoning" would not resolve within a day. Perhaps someone didn't wash their hands properly, employee or op. Perhaps the op had a reaction to a spice used in the cooking, perhaps op already had an illness as many times most symptoms can occur days after contracting the illness, perhaps the food was older than the person was used to (this is a big one, everyone remembers taking lunches to school as children an having their food sit for hours in a warm lunch box but now having "old" food is bad... ).

I will say that as a whole the Lebanese Taverna is a pretty good restaurant with a great reputation. They are all over the DC metro area. That said, everyone has to realize that eating out is always a gamble...
