https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRt1qq8Gq8g heres the full episode of drugs inc about heroin in baltimore.I dont think this is nat geo trying to make baltimore look bad considering they have done an episode about almost every major city, however it does show how severe and wide ranging the heroin issue has become. what are your opinions of the episode

The 60,000 heroin addicts number is bogus - really an estimate of all people with substance abuse problems. Otherwise, I think the documentary was fair enough. In fact, if you watched it on cable, you would have seen promos from the Boston show that were just as disturbing as anything shown in the Baltimore episode. They also did a nice job of filming; the lighting was good and the video was crisp. Since I have been to many of the spots where the episode was shot and I can tell you that those places look worse in real life. The hood has never looked so good. Finally, they spent a lot of time talking about suburban junkies, who they kind of mocked for paying too much for their dope. All in all, I wouldn't call this a hatchet job, especially compared the the Al Jazeera "documentary" from a few years ago.

Propaganda piece by National Geographic.

How the mighty have fallen.

N.G. has gone from bare-breasted black
women bending over to gather food in a
field to wardrobe malfunction black women
weebling over on a city corner.

I'm surprised they'd show the Undercover Agent's face, with a big title that tells us his job. Was that like his last day on the job before being transferred permanently or something?

yea 60,000 seemed a little bit over the top, and to be honest i think philly has a much worse heroin problem than Baltimore, thats not to say that Baltimore dosent need help with its own heroin problem but the 60,000 heroin addict number seemed a little suspect

An article in this weekend's Baltimore Sun completely destroyed the 60k figure and spoke of the deteriorating quality of National Geographic in general, since its ownership changed hands.

Both Neo Geo and Smithsonian have likewise changed editorial boards within the past few years. Both have had less emphasis on the original scientific inquiry aspect of their articles, and more on the "Oprah/Hillary- Style 'It Takes a Village-We Are All One People'" feel good type-stories. Both new editorial staffs are overwhelmingly female/feminist. Is there a co-relation?

Just watched the video. There was a small glimmer of hope as one of the drug dealers was using an Enoch Pratt library card to do some of his 'mixing' (27:50). So maybe he's at least well-read.

It is still scary that Baltimore has such a huge drug and gang problem. I saw the program and it seems that they just don't want anyone to bother them and their business. The one guy got upset when he said stupid county white folk coming to town and wanting action.. LOL If there is a problem, it's usually gang on gang shootings and not every day folk.
