Hi. Well here I am back again. Thanks for all your help the first time around.

I finally found a place for my mom called Basilica Place. Mt. Vernon. Lovely, close to library, churches and medical needs. Did I say my mom is a veteran of the Korean War and uses her va bennies for most things.

BUT after going through all the paper work and first interviews, we seem to be getting stalled. Lots of promises to set up a lease signing date but no calls as promised. Promises followed by more promises. Never had this happen in any of our renting experiences so I am at sea as to what to do. Is there some Baltimore language to wade through or what?

When I call I get a bit of what feels like a stalling tactic. Has anyone else had this experience with them?. I am flummoxed with their switch from gracious to far less. They say mom's paperwork is all okay and since she's never, as they asked, been evicted or arrested (Horrors) I don't know how to explain it to her. btw, she is an alumni of MICA and yearns to play with paint and meet her fellow alumni again. So we reaaaallly want to move her there. Any suggestions or further info will be greatly appreciated. lIke mother, like daughter. Persistent.

I wish I could say that I have advice to help (sadly, I know little about VA benefits, despite that my ex received them), but the only words I have are that you're a great daughter and keep being persistent. Is there a VA board that might be of some help if no one here has any useful tips?

Default Thanks foryour reply do you live in Baltimore/

Hi. Sorry I was not more clear. Mom, 85, gets her care from the VA -- she's a Korean vet. She now lives in a rural senior complex and has been unhappy there .. bullies. She now needs treatments only available in VA hospitals. Baltimore has one.

Her local VA doctor will sign a letter to help her end her lease so she can go there . Other than that, the VA would not be involved. But thank you for the suggestion.

Basilica Place apartments in Baltimore seemed perfect. . everyone was so gracious and helpful. We completed initial paperwork/interview. Now, when normally they would arrange a lease signing date, everything seems changed. so many promises to set a date -- then nothing.

They say nothing is wrong with our paper work. They have said, "If your mom hasn't been evicted or arrested, this will be easy." She has never had any of these experiences.

Oh well. Another phone call on Monday. sigh. I'm feeling as dumb as a box of rocks.

But thank you very much for listening. U R very kind. You know, I can't tell this to anyone who might share it.

Have a wonderful holiday season. Johanna

I understand about not being able to share.

So, what is the trouble exactly? If it's not some VA paperwork I'm unfamiliar with, I'm confused as to what's going on.

You reached out to an apartment and they aren't getting back with finding her a unit? We had a terrible time getting a place for my yiayia in a Greek senior home she really wanted to be in. But there just weren't any openings for the foreseeable future. Senior housing in the city is tough to snap up. Any chance that's what's happening here? Even so, they should be telling you that is the case.
