Or maybe... an event like this has never happened before in the history of martime and there are no guidelines on how "fast" this should or not be completed, nor are we the UAE or Saudi Arabi and cut safety corners for the sake of "speed".

But seeing as you can't be reasoned with, will agree to disagree.

You have a good one.

I'm just wondering about the long term impact on the Port. Yeah, I know what the politicos are saying but if the alternate ports the shipping has been diverted to can logistically handle the traffic and the companies find the cost going to those is lower they won't return to Baltimore.

I haven't seen that many ships going by my house even with the channel being open, even at a lower capacity, the last couple or three weeks since it's been open. By "that many" I mean less than a dozen. Now, more may have transited at night when I wouldn't see them.

It's hard for me to see any long term impact from this. Short term, it's going to be a mess.

The MV Dali is ~4x the weight of MV Summit Venture (the ship that hit the original Sunshine Sky Way bridge) nor did the Sunshine Skyway Bridge fall on the MV Summit and prevent it from being moved.

You wouldn’t say a Lear Jet crashing is the” same thing” as a 747 despite them both being planes. Same concept.

By other ports to you mean the Tidewater(Norfolk/Portsmouth/Newport News) or are you thinking places like Philly and Wilmington DE can use this as an opportunity to steal business and cargo. I know nothing about ports but I travel by Port of Wilmington all the time going to Philly and wonder why its not larger than it is...
