Why would Delta Airlines have anything to do with it?
And MLB being re-aligned like today's NFL would be very difficult for this reason: MLB has 30 teams. NFL has 32 teams, so it can split into 4 divisions per league, with 4 teams each. In order for it to work, MLB has to expand to 32 teams.
True, I was thinking 6 five team-divisions (like how next year will be), with more geographically accurate divisions, and more of a blurring (or abolishing) of the AL/NL.

The divisions sound reasonable enough, however, I might want to do more research.
And what was the deal with balancing travel requirements?
You said that could have been why CIN and ATL were in the West and CHC and STL were in the east.
I never said that could have been. I was asking what the travel balance requirements were.
