As a Brewer fan, I always cheer for teams like us, the pirates, the royals, the padres, the rockies, the rays, the stros, the mariners, the A's, and the rangers. What I like to call the dredges of MLB, mainly because we as a group never won a world series. Although the Royals have won one. Even in any other sport I root for the small market teams.
If the Pirates won the division for the next 5 years I do not think I would even care, yes I would be pissed that my Beer Makers did not make it but if the Brewers do not make it, then let it be the Pirates.
Out of all of these teams, the Mariners have never been to the World Series. The A's have won a World Series(1989), and so have the Pirates(1960, 1971, 1979, 1925)

The A's won three consecutive World Series, 1972, 1973 and 1974.
Pirates losing streak has now reached 4 consecutive games.
You listed multiple Pirate wins and I assumed you would not wish to discriminate against the A's by making it appear that they had but one championship, so perhaps you were unaware.
Since I wrote that the Pirates would need to play .250 ball or worse in order to miss having a winning season this year, they have played .200 ball, losing four of their last five.
^^^ Six days later, they are in a two-game winning streak (having gone 6-4 in their last 10) and only need six more wins to reach 82. They can do it.
