Tony LaRussa's retirement means that there is a new leader in management tenure.
Which manager has held the same job for the longest now?
It's Mike Scioscia of the Angels who will be entering his 13th season helming Los Angeles.
Which manager has been employed as a manager for the most consecutive years?
That would be Bruce Bochy of the Giants who led San Diego from '95 through '06, and has managed the Giants since '07. This will be his 18th consecutive season managing in MLB.
And which GM has been in place the longest?
Brian Sabean of the Giants, on the job since 1996.
Go Brian! I graduated high school with his sister. Like that's important...
William Howard Taft began a presidential tradition of throwing out the first pitch in on opening day, 1910. Since then every chief executive, except one, has taken part in the festivities at least once.
And the one who didn't?
Spoiler
Jimmy Carter, but he did throw out the first pitch for the 79 world series
Gerald Ford also did not throw out an Opening Day first pitch but did the next best thing at an All-Star game in Philadelphia and at a regular season game in Arlington.

No guessing here. Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez.
I was kind of surprised looking up Pujols record. For all his inflated triple crown stats, he has won just four total titles. BA in '03, HR in '08 and '09, and RBI in '10. In seven of his eleven seasons, he led the NL in no triple crown stats.
Arod is the most accomplished of the three, he has won eight titles, one BA crown, two RBI titles and five hr titles.
In the 1870s, the median height of all major league pitchers was 5'9". The number of pitchers on current 40-man rosters of all MLB teams who are under 5'9" is one: Tim Collins of the Royals. Three more, in all of MLB, are listed at 5'9"
