Instant replay makes sports seem much more important than they really are, as if all of life itself hinges on that call, that moment.
The over-payed folks who are playing the game might think otherwise, but then again, they're over-payed.
Not having instant replay keeps the game human. Flawed. Not full of itself. I wish football didn't have it.
I don't think instant replay would add anything to baseball. Quite the contrary, I think it would only detract, so I don't think that MLB voting it down was a "goof" at all. I think it was the right thing to do.
The game has been popular for more than 150 years without instant replay. It's not necessary, except maybe to a subset of people who don't really know the game in the first place, and have to have everything spoon-fed to them. Anybody who knows and appreciates the game of baseball should be above that sort of thing.

After how the Twins and Rockies got screwed in games this year, you can honestly say that?
You can't pick and choose among individual occurrences. I was thinking about the game as a whole.
I agree with the above, but I don't really like the "if it isn't broke, dont fix it," arguement. Just because they sell tickets does not mean the game can't improve. I think they should expand replay, but keep it very limited, perhaps on down the line calls in the 7th inning or later, and the coach only gets one challenge? I am sure there are holes in that, but point is, I don't think it would hurt to slightly expand the use of replay in the MLB.
I think baseball will never institute Instant Replay because it is worried about lengthening the games. I personally wouldn't mind if every game lasted 4 hours.

I didn't think I was that old, but I can remember when an entire baseball game could be played in less than two hours. And if you had a couple of pitchers out there who worked quickly, an hour and a half was possible. But the deadly combination of Relief Pitcher Overload and Commercials has taken care of that; them days are gone.
I'm against the expansion of instant reply. Mostly because the games are already too long. Instant reply in college football is terrible. Ever been at a game and it gets stopped 5-10 times for calls to be reviewed? Its a terrible lull in the action IN ADDITION to the multiple commercial and team time outs. Baseball games are already to long and if you open it up to plays at the bases its only going to get longer. Also, if you do that then balls and strikes will be soon to follow. The human element is part of the game, always has been. "Blown" calls stand out more these days because of the multiple camera angles and increased coverage.
