1. Lebron James (Most efficient and best all around player in the game)
2. Kevin Durant (Maybe best pure scorer, having a great year again)
3. Chris Paul (Best point gaurd in the league leading the hottest team in the league)
4. Carmelo Anthony (Having best season of his career)
5. James Harden (If team gets better could move up higher)
6. David Lee (The most underrated player in the NBA)
7. Zach Randolph (Always getting double doubles)
8. Tim Duncan (Another great year)
9. Tony Parker (Top 5 pg in the game, Spurs having another great year)
10. Kobe Bryant (If Lakers get back on track he'll move up)
To be honest since the term "MVP" means most valuable player it could be James Harden. I think if you take any of these other players off their team they still have an above average team but if you take James Harden off the Rockets their probably a bottom 4 or 5 team in the west.

Unfortunately, it doesnt mean valuable, it just means best. they never vote for the most 'valuable' becuase that's subjective, they just go on the 'best stats' award and this is why Chris Paul won't win. He's not going to have as many PPG as Lebron or someone like that, so he will get looked over even despite all the intangibles he brings, the leadership on and off the court, the 'teaching' he does for the younger players, he;s always teaching, he's always buttering up the refs, he's always 'working the room' nobody does it quite like CP3...you have to watch all the Clippers games to appreciate how valuable he is.

Yeah pound for pound I think Chris Paul is the best player in the league. If you put Chris Paul in Lebrons body he'd probably average 35 10 and 10. In 08 - 09 Paul had a crazy year: 23ppg, 11apg, 5.5 rpg, 2.8 spg while shooting over 50% from the field. I believe all of those ranked first among point guards. Those numbers are more impressive then both of Steve Nash's MVP seasons and Derrick Rose's MVP season as well and somehow he only placed 5th in the MVP voting. Doesn't make any sense.

Speaking SPECIFICALLY about winning the MVP award it tends to go to the best player on the team that finished with one of the top records in the NBA. That's how Nash won it twice among others.
With that said, CP3 is a strong candidate but I think Durant will get it this year.
Lebron will of course be a top guy but maybe they've gotten tired of giving it to him.
If the Knicks stayed strong Melo would be the other contender.
Basically, I have to think at this point of the season it's going to be CP3, Durant or Lebron that wins the actual award.
P.S. As you also know but didn't mention...>CP3 is also one heckuva defender.

Team record is the reason it doesn't make any sense. Like it or not, your team has to be in the top handful of records in the NBA. No one in the modern era has won an MVP award and been lower than a 3rd seed. <shrug>
As a spurs fan, I am very happy to see Duncan included in the top 10 list once again.
