What if Olajuwan would have ended up with the Spurs and Robinson ended up with the Rockets.
Would the Rockets still had won 2 championships and would the Spurs have won a championship before the arrival of Duncan?
yes the rockets still win, no spurs rings before duncan. spurs would not have likely won the 2003 title with hakeem considering he retired the year before at age 39.
Spurs certainly win in '95 with Olajuwon. The Spurs were actually more talented than the Rockets. Spurs had a legit point(Avery Johnson) and Dennis Rodman. The fact that Hakeem led a subpar supporting cast to two consecutive titles was amazing.
Akeem might just be THE MOST overrated player in NBA history. He goes around .500 most of his career, catches a break with Jordan's suspension/reprieve, wins two titles, yet gets thrashed in the first round NINE times, yet is somehow widely regarded as a top-10 player, let alone even in the top 20? Kevin Garnett's virtually had an identical career, no one considers him in the top 10, yet I'm supposed to accept Hakeem as being one?

I'd take dream over Garnett. All NBA teams 1st team 6-4. Those matter.
If you want to claim he had an identical career then post the stats.

My main point, is that Hakeem's career for the most part before and after the repeat, is washed from the books by the vast majority, he was this perfect player that could do no wrong. Yet, tons of folks criticize Garnett for his Minnesota days, and at times gets outranked by Dirk Nowitzki, let alone being anywhere near him as a player or in the rankings. They both were in detestable situations a good deal of their careers, yet Hakeem gets praised for it, and Garnett gets bashed
They both were DPOY's, MVP's, won championships after they were 30, spent their primes on ~.500 clubs for the most part, and fell off soon after their Finals appearances. Hakeem played in a faster pace era, so statistics would be a tad bit misleading, in comparing these two players per game numbers.
Personally, I think Garnett is better. He had a more consistent prime, a better and more willing passer- could even facilitate as point forward, more versatile defender, more all-defensive 1st teams, more points, rebounds, assists by the time he hangs it up, more All-Star Game MVP's*, more all-star teams, bounced in the first round less despite playing longer, better in the MVP voting, actually won his MVP over the likes of Kobe, Duncan, Shaquille, Iverson, McGrady; Olajuwon won his with Jordan being suspended, and Pippen being injured
* I personally consider All-Star Game MVP's important achievements; outplaying the best of the best at the highest level. If you watched this past ASG, you saw how visibly angry James was when Bryant blocked his ish, you can't say being an All-Star doesn't mean anything to these players.

Much of Hakeem's reputation is built off the two years Jordan retired, the way he led the Rockets and the quality of the competition he faced directly and overcame. His career accolade-wide, just looking at the list of accomplishments, isn't all that different from Garnett's.

wow i was somewhat agreeing with you until you said ASG MVP means something. being hte mvp of a pickup game doesnt mean anything. thats the most ridiculous game of the season for sure. its a popularity contest, and being a reserve means more then being a starter because at least as a reserve the coaches pick. just silly.
