You didn't state it as your opinion though, you stated it as fact
Where did he say it was fact? Does every comment we make on here have to be prefixed with 'In my opinion'? I mean, I think most of us can reasonably figure that much of what is said here is personal opinion. And may I remind you, you're the one on the Jordan thread who made this comment, and I quote:

Is that fact, or opinion? Because just as you claim the other poster stated his comment as fact, one can easily claim you did the same above. Except, I think most of us here have enough sense to figure that the above comment is your own personal opinion, without you having to say 'in my opinion'. I mean, it's a freaking message board for C*****'s sake, surely you can distinguish what is a factual comment and what is an opinion?
Where did I say that it was fact? Again it is just my opinion from having watched the team. If you want to have a different opinion, feel free.

I don't see any possession from you in this paragraph, other than the I, which was more possessive of your intent, not on the content. If you truly meant it as an opinion, you would've said so. You're just backtracking now because you got called out, and know you can't prove this "opinion"
So Bill Russell being GOAT is fact? Because you've never used the term 'in my opinion' when making the statement. Shall every sentence said on the board start with 'in my opinion' for the few simple folk who can't distinguish fact from opinion?

The team did run on it's defense and with Dumars, Rodman etc. they had some GREAT defenders.
Thomas though was good for around 20pts (in a low scoring defensive era) and 10 assists a night so clearly he was the absolute focal point of their offense considering that he was involved in at least 40 of the teams 90 or so pts a night.
In the same Open Court episode, Isiah said Laimbeer was not a thug, he was raised in a fairly affluent family and it was hard for him to be seen as one of the Bad Boyz -- Kenny Smith responded "But he sure embraced it well!"
lol .. I'm happy the other players saw through Isiah's BS, although you can sense a bit of unease when this subject was broached.
interesting you say that. I remember in one of Charles Barkley's books, he was sort of nervous meeting with Laimbeer for a movie shoot. After meeting him, Barkley said Laimbeer was a really nice guy despite all their court fight & battles.
I don't know enough about Isaih outside of the last 10 or so years so I don't know if he has always been a tool or if he is just aging gracelessly etc.
Malone was a heckuvalot better player than him.
I like Isaih on the court and of course I love him for single-handedly crippling the Knicks franchise while handing the Bulls great draft picks for garbage players.
Isiah Thomas has always had a boulder on his shoulder. That's part of the reason why he and Magic Johnson, who were once very close, are not that close anymore (well, and the fact Isiah had some doubts about Magic's sexual preference when Magic was tested as HIV positive).

I've always been of the opinion that Bill Laimbeer was a lot like his former teammate Rick Mahorn (and for that matter his sometime antagonist Charles Barkley) - a real jackass on the court, but not a bad person off the court. Those kind of guys tend to be good in the locker room too.
I always have remembered another quote that I read from Bill Laimbeer. Laimbeer said that he was terrible at pick-up, playground-type basketball, whereas Isaiah Thomas excelled in that environment. Laimbeer remarked that he needed refs and rules. "So that he can bend them to his advantage," (paraphrase) was the unspoken conclusion tacked on by the clever sportswriter who did the interview.
Over the years I've run into many situations where that principle applies. The party that wants complicated rules, and squadrons of enforcers is often not looking for fairness, but just looking to twist the rules and regs to their advantage.
