He did win a ring with Dirk at Dallas, am I correct?
Yup, he won a ring as a largely spot-up shooting defensive minded role player along side Dirk. I remember him in his prime, he was an animal on defense, and a nightly triple double threat at a time when they were much more rare.

If not, I have a hard time imagining this pairing will work. Both guys need the ball, I see an offense of alternating ISO possessions, attempts to stagger minutes to minimize pairing them together (think Paul and Harden in Houston) so each can get their shots up. I guess you have to trade to try and get star power though, so worth the minimal risk.
No doubt this will improve their offense and limit double teaming on Luka and prevent burn out on him by the 4th quarter based on his usage rate. Now if they can get a rebounder/rim protector type they could possibly avoid their current status as being last in the league in boards per game.

Pairing them together is going to be a huge headache for the rest of the league at least on the offensive end. Irving also averages 5 assists per game. So he does pass the ball. Plus the Mavs have lost a few games due to their weak ft% and Irving’s 88% should help.

I'm with you on the sharing of the ball issues that these two will have. That being said, Jalen Brunson was able to thrive playing with Luka. Kyrie would be wise to study that and see if it can work for him, as on paper he's a better version of Brunson in every way. Kidd is going to earn his money as coach now.

Who's gonna shoot? Kyrie or Luka? They both should have just heaved it. The fact neither of them wanted the last shot spoke volumes.

Yeah, I bet he doesn't want to answer because even "good" Kyrie doesn't know the answer if he's going to stay in Dallas.

Irving has a history of unfulfilled promises. In 2013, he told a room full of children that he would never leave the Cleveland Cavaliers like Lebron James did, only to request a trade a few years later in 2017. During a preseason event in 2018, he told the crowd inside the TD Garden that he was planning to re-sign with the team when he hit free agency, only to leave and sign with the Brooklyn Nets instead. When speaking with reporters in 2022, he said he loved playing in Brooklyn and wanted to re-sign with the team because "there's no way I can leave my man seven (Kevin Durant) anywhere." He of course requested a trade from the Nets earlier this month.

So far I am not too impressed by the results. No excuse to lose to Minnesota at home. As far as what Kyrie is going to do. I am sure he is calling his buddies trying to figure out where to go next. I heard a rumor he wants to go to Phoenix and play with KD. Its odd that he bails and then wants to reunite with who he bailed on, like Lebron.

I root for this guy anyway because he's such a wizard with the ball in his hand. He was really putting on a show when KD was out in Brooklyn. In that same article, the Lakers seem like his next destination if he gets his way. He wants to play with Lebron again which, like you mentioned, would be ironic.

I think somewhere in Kyrie's head there has be regret on how each team he has played for has ended in disaster. He is not going to say sorry to Lebron but wanting to play with him again is sort of saying that. And KD. He got away from the Nets but a big waste of time the past 3 years have been. And now he has joined a team that already had the best record last year. He is sort of repeating the Warrior situation. Anything less than a title is disappointing. And winning one, well not that big a deal. He could have gone that route 3 years ago and joined any number of already good teams. Imagine if KD was working this year on title #3 in Brooklyn. 5 for his career. More than Lebron up there in very rare air of the greatest of all time.

The Lakers I don't think are set up well for Kyrie to join next season. They have to clear a lot of space and it would end up like when they got Westbrook. The big 3 and a lot of players on minimum contracts. Then Lebron and AD go down and you have 4 guys that are barely in the NBA starting for you. And Kyrie I believe is in the top 5 of most missed games among all star level players. There was the covid situation, suspensions and just having other things to do. But he misses a lot of games. The time was before the trade deadline. But Tsai gave Kyrie some well deserved Karma.

Mark Cuban’s time as the majority owner of the Mavericks is coming to a shocking conclusion. Cuban has agreed to sell a majority stake in the NBA franchise to Miriam Adelson, the wife of late casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, at a valuation of approximately $3.5 billion, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Cuban will retain a minority stake in the team and also still preside over basketball operations, the report said. Cuban, who made his fortune selling the website broadcast.com to Yahoo in the late 1990s, bought the team for $285 million in 2000. The Mavericks won the 2011 NBA championship and have generally been competitive throughout Cuban’s tenure as owner, making the playoffs in all but six of the seasons that he owned the team. The news is genuinely shocking, as the Mavericks were so inextricably linked to Cuban’s public identity that it is impossible to imagine the team being owned by someone else, even with the unique caveat that he is maintaining basketball control.

Dallas Mavericks owner and billionaire businessman Mark Cuban has appeared on “Shark Tank” for a long time. And for that reason, he’s out. The 65-year-old broke the news during this week’s edition of “All the Smoke,” a podcast hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Cuban first appeared on the second season of the show as a guest entrepreneur in 2011. He’s been a regular “shark” since then. Along with Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and Kevin O’Leary, Cuban has fielded eager pitches from budding entrepreneurs for 15 seasons. "Next year, our 16th year, is gonna be my last year, so I got one more year to go," Cuban said.

So he sold the team and is quitting shark tank? Why?
