I hear a lot of people complaining that Kevin Durant went to the Golden St Warriors this season, but what about the Cavs? Are they playing the game fair? Their starting lineup costs more then 18 teams entire rosters. Think about that for a moment.
I think it does a disservice to league when teams do that causing an imbalance. It's legal to do but I think it goes against the spirit of the rules. What do you guys think?
If you are not breaking rules, but are "going against the spirit of the rule", then that rule is poorly written.
If they are within the rules as they are written then that's just too bad for everyone else.
Technically, they are breaking the rules since they are over the cap and pay the penalty every year because of it.
The OP does make a fair point because as much as everyone is crying about the Warriors creating an unfair advantage, they'll have only the 14th highest payroll in the league this year (with Cavs at #1).

It's similar to how people dislike Bill Belicheck and the New England Patriots. Some of the things they do are legal but go against the spirit of the rules (lineman being eligible etc).
Plus Dan Gilbert was one of the owners complaining to the NBA about the Lakers getting Chris Paul. He said that would form a superteam. So the NBA blocked the trade.
