In the playoff hunt, in the east where being 2 games below .500 could get you the 7 seed and going .500 might get you the 5 or 6 seed.
His team is in the middle of the pack of 10 bad teams. Period.

FYI... Here are the people who vote.
Snyder has done a terrific job, no doubt.

Spolestra has done a good job giving young guys a chance to showcase their skills with playing time, maybe their only chance to do so before getting shipped back to D-league or playing overseas. Not to mention a guy like Waiters whose fallen far and might finally have pulled his head out of his butt.

He's getting 150% out of those guys.

Frankly I think he deserves consideration for this.

If the Heat gets that last playoff spot I think Spoelstra may get the coach of the year.

Not a chance.
Regardless of that last playoff spot there are easy 3-4 coaches ahead of him

I thought maybe that 11-30 start would factor into the decision of him winning COTY. And maybe Brad Stevens because no one thought two months ago his team would have a shot at the 1 seed.

Stevens has a FAR better shot, and may actually win it. I don't get the ES fascination, his team is not good, and coaches with losing records are not deserving regardless of how bad their team makeup is. Playoffs or not, even if he wins out and goes .500, he's had a weak schedule and broke even.

Pop, Stevens, D'antoni, Snyder, all ahead of spol.

Some are saying D'antoni is a lock for COTY.

Lord I hope not.
I can't stand him. He's not a winning coach, he's a stat stuffing coach but not a winner when it matters.
