I've thought NBA is fixed for years, this is no news to me. I remember this particular game and if you look at the stats especially from the 4th quarter, makes you believe the story. Also, going back to the Suns vs. Spurs series last year, that was fishy also. I don't trust a thing Stern says or does. I'm not saying, I'm just saying!!
You know what, I actually think that this might be a bit true. I am out in Sacramento now and the news folks played a few clips of fouls called near the end of the game that supposedly was fixed, and I saw clear fouls that were erroneously called.
I hate to say it, but at this moment I'm inclined to believe that this might actually be true.
Im wondering if the 2006 Miami-Detroit series was fixed as well. Not sure if donaghy was referring that series but there were instances when Rasheed Wallace got pushed out of bounds when the pistons were inbounding and a five-second passing rule was called. Later on, a piston taps a heat player and gets a foul. I doubt Donaghy was alone.
I remember that series very well and something was very fishy about it.
I still enjoy the NBA, but nowhere near as much as I used to. The game was far superior 15+ years ago. The athletes might be faster and stronger today, but that doesn't mean the game is better. And it wouldn't surprise me if there is some game fixing going on from time to time.

I want to be careful about hijacking the thread, not a good thing to do as a moderator (though this isn't my forum). However, I think that the calls in games over the past 10 or so years don't seem right. I'm not claiming games are all fixed, I don't believe that to be true. But last night Kobe basically said at the half that his play was similar to how he played in Boston but now he was getting the foul calls. I'd love to see an analysis of how many foul shots teams get at home and on the road.
I guess my overall sentiment is that this fairness issue may be more significant than just a few fixed games.

I've posted similar thoughts before. That Heat-Pistons series just was not right. Dwyane Wade was literally untouchable that year. No one was allowed to breathe on the guy in those playoffs. It was disgusting to watch.
The sad part is that this news is not surprising. This news just makes complete and total sense.
No kidding. Makes me wonder how long this has been going on for.
