It was right around 8pm! Thank goodness you were not in the line of it-one car got hit, no other injuries though...it was shot from the shell across from Perkins Rowe!

Unfortunately Baton Rouge has crap happen no matter what part of the Metro you go. Any larger city is like that though. I work for the City/Parish EMS and we go where violence occurs. I work the station down the street that covers Perkins Rowe and I have never ran a call there. It is very rare to run any violent call in that specific area. I have ran calls all over the Parish and have to say that is one of the safest areas of the Metro. I think the Sheriff's office does a pretty good job in that area. Even the Gardere area which I also respond to has no where near as much violent crime as it used to.

I was actually there one night when it was full of undesirables. I saw two fights start and then somebody dropped something and it sounded like gunfire, so of course a huge crowd of people took off running and it was a big mess. It was after that night that they implemented a curfew for people 18 year of age or younger. Funny part was that the people I saw fighting appeared to be adults...at least 21. It's a shame how everything gets blamed on kids just because they are the easiest ones to blame.

Low and behold, it was opening night for some such stupid movie geared towards the feeblest minds of society.
what a small town this is; we were there that same night :-) Almost got ran over by the crowd....

My husband works for the Sheriff's department and told me that they recieved a call about a "riot" at Perkins Rowe around this time. It was probably the night of the fake gunfire. Anyway, when they got that call he was surprised because it is such a nice, new area and one of his coworkers told him that it is nice every other day of the week, but that on Saturday nights it sometimes gets rowdy.
