Hi

Looking at a possible relocation to Baton Rouge area. Would be working out of the Marine Recruiting office on Jefferson Hwy.

We have never been to LA, so would like advice, is there a rural type area, that allows horses in the commutable area? We don't have horses but would like to live in an area that would allow. Would like privacy, small acreage with house areas. Safe areas, not concerned with the schools. We don't mind a small commute if it is doable.

Price ranges up to $325k.

thanks for any advice, if you could include the city names or zips so I can research the housing in those areas.
Cassie

How far of a commute? I've seen people riding horses in the city limits.

Willing to drive a 35 minute commute to find small acreage home, preferrably not in a subdivision, unless it is an acreage subdivision.

thanks

You could take a look at the city of Central and possibly outlying areas of Addis and Brusly in West Baton Rouge parish. I'm not personally familiar with those areas, and a 35 minute commute doesn't really get you far out of the city or bedroom suburbs. I'm very familiar with Ascension Parish, south of the city, but it's growing and you won't see horses much unless you go to the fringes of Gonzales or further. I would suggest somewhere in West Baton Rouge at the end of the day, it's right across the river from the city but surprisingly rural for whats just a stone's throw away. You can also look into Port Allen and possibly Grosse Tete and Rosedale.

I would second Ascension Parish and also add the area of Livingston Parish south of I-12. (Port Vincent, Maurepas, French Settlement, etc.) The rest of Livingston probably has what you are looking for as well but would be a long commute.
