Proposing a name Change for East Baton Rouge was just an idea about being One in Baton Rouge. My idea doesn't suggest anything but a name change. Central, Baker, Zachary and all others would still be as they are and the Metro Council stays in tact.... the following parishes can stay West Baton Rouge,Livingston and Ascension still growing independently of Baton Rouge... I think the Name Baton Rouge as the city home to 220k is strong but Baton Rouge Parrish , home to over 400K is stronger on a national scene...

That wouldn't change anything. Just cost money.

Changing the name of East Baton Rouge parish ,shouldn't do anything to the other cites that are part of the parish.... i think "Baton Rouge" could mean so much more when you talk about all its 400k plus residents and not just the ..... besides when people from Baker ,Zachery,Central or where ever else in the BR metro say " I'm From Baton Rouge".

You want to annex all of the parish or just change the name?

Example; Dallas County Texas. has a pop of 2,368,1392,368,139about 2.4 million... but Dallas county is home to the city of Dallas,as well as over 20 other towns and cites... Dallas County is a bigger idea than just the city Dallas pop. of about 1.2 million... Baton Rouge neads to leverage it self again theese larger cities and economies of the Succesful Sun BELT South....speaking of the Parish and City in one Name may help our regional national and global ID.

Dallas is better than BR because it has more opportunities, and it is of course, a much larger city. Creating BR Parish won't change the fact that BR is a long way from being a Dallas. If you want BR to have a higher national profile, then the city itself needs to change.
