Hi-
Is Baton Rouge Worth The Drive From Lake Charles?? I have a friend in BR I haven't seen in several years--I've never been there (or Lake Charles for that matter).

If I make it to BR I sure want to have a malt at the Cheeburger Cheeburger Restaurant on Siegen Lane...Cheeburger Cheeburger has great malts that I've enjoyed at the Shreveport locale & the now-defunct Dallas locale.

That's really up to you. If I had a friend I wanted to visit, sure I'd come over. It's only about 2 hours away. I personally don't go to Cheeburger Cheeburger because I have heard that their "great and famous" cheesburger and some other things are really overpriced and really not that much better than say a Jack n the Box. Of course they may have the best Malts, I wouldn't know, and maybe it now gives me a reason to at least check it out.
Personally Capital City Grill (downtown) has a great hamburger. There are a few things to do if you just wanted to hang out with friends. I actually spent Saturday evening hopping around places downtown and it was great. It's easy to get in and out of just about every place, it's not crowded and the atmosphere is great.
Also, LSU baseball is also a great venue. They're at home for the next few weeks. Check the schedule if you come.
Don't bother with either of the two casinos here. I've been to each once and hated both experiences.

I'm not sure, perhaps it varies from location to location, but the Cheeburger Cheeburger here is awesome. Sure there are local places that I think make a better burger, but Cheeburger Cheeburger definitely makes a good one. There is a Fatburger across the street from our Cheeburger Cheeburger and the Fatburger was dry and downright nasty, not at all worth the money... but Cheeburger Cheeburger was worth every penny! Having said that I have eaten at Fatburger in New Orleans and loved it. I guess it all depends on the location and who is cooking, and I hate when that happens. That's why it's so hard to make it as a successful restaurant chain.

That is true. There are too many things that vary by location.
I used to like Texas Roadhouse, until the one in BTR opened up.

Cool Re: Is Baton Rouge Worth the Drive from Lake Charles??

Hi-
Thank you to all respondents.

Personally I think everything at Cheeburger Cheeburger is terrible except for the shakes/malts!!

I used to eat their entrees once or twice in Dallas when I was ignorant of their bad-tastingness at the now-defunct Dallas store.

Then the 1st time I came to the Shreveport store, along with a malt I shared the frings basket with spicy mayo dipping sauce with a friend I went with, which was better than the Dallas store entrees but still not great.

My point is that based on overwhelmingly negative experiences
with non-ice cream based foods at the Dallas store & to a lesser extent, the Shreveport store, leads me to only by ice-cream products at Cheeburger.

That is one thing they sure know how to do properly!!

Sorry if this post has been confusing & wordy...

This will prolly be my farewell tour of Louisiana b/c it will be my 5th visit to the state & it's becoming too far from Dallas.

We may very well go to Baton Rouge b/c my friend in his dark blue 2000 Ford Escort gets 30-33 m.p.g.'s!!

Talk to y'all soon!!

My 5 Visits to Louisiana:
2002 saw one visit with my parents by plane to New Orleans-a GREAT city that MUST get fixed again!!

2006 saw 2 visits to Shreveport-Bossier that year with my friend Brian & 2008 saw one visit there 2/9/2008 with my friend John.

2/9/2008 also saw one visit to Monroe with my friend John b/c of this great youtube video song (2005) Monroe, LA is a Beer-drinkin' Town seen @ 2m 30s here:

YouTube - Monrock Part One

& the hot actress Parker Posey lived there briefly but claims Laurel, MS which I've been to once by plane for some friends' wedding...flew over Monroe then last month so I had to experience it in person. It's OK to cruise through except I almost vomited 3 X from the paper mill stench!!
