(2) So, what about jobs? Depends on what you do. Healthcare is fairly big here and is stable. If you're an engineer, it's iffy. Normally I'd say it's a great job to have with the petrochemical corridor, but Dow is laying off, and I expect others to follow
(3) there as bigger city on the way to New Orleans that would be better. Nope. And keep in mind that southeast Louisiana from BR to NO is about half of Louisiana's population.
(4) Will me being the northern white girl fit in to an predominantly black setting in Baton Rouge? East Baton Rouge Parish is probably about 50% white, 45% black, and 5% Asian/Hispanic. And in general, the majority black neighborhoods are north of Florida.
Can I live north of Florida? Hey is this "Florida" a city, a street or a neighborhood? For 14 years I have been an Executive Assistant w/one company and have a Bachelors in Business Admin and an Associates in Human Resource. So, I fit into most office settings well. Had thought about getting a degree/certificate in physical therapy as a side gig. I will begin my housing search next week. I hope to be moved by the middle of April. Thanks so much for your help!

Florida Boulevard is a major thoroughfare that runs through downtown all the way to the Amite River and continues into the rest of the Florida Parishes. Places like Central and Zachary are north of Florida, but they are good places to live. Almost every neighborhood north of Florida Boulevard is majority black. A few are majority old folks and Spanish Town is a hodge-podge of everybody. Most of Baton Rouge's violent crime comes out of the areas North of Florida, but a few neighborhoods (mostly closer to Florida) are still "alright".
