Try this site to look for houses. It is what the realtors use.

You should be able to get what you want for under 300k. I would suggest neighborhoods such as Kenilworth. I won't guarantee she can make it to Baker in under 25 minutes but you can get lots of house for your money.

As for your daycare inquiry, go to this link Department of Children & Family Services | State of Louisiana Click on "Licensed daycare facilities". It will show you a list of all the daycare facilities. Select the area either closest to your employment or home (when you decide on one). This site gives you Louisiana child care regulations and requirements, hours of operation of each center, accreditation, inspections and deficiencies found. For .25 cents a page you can even request the deficiency if it is not posted. On the home page there is a section of interest for parents, Star Rating - the more stars, the better the center & gives tax breaks. Hint...READ the Louisiana Liciensing Guidelines and go in every center prepared to ask questions based on those guidelines. Ask to see their forms, previous inspections, sign-in sheets for their children as they come and go and especially if they are up to date on their Adult/Infant CPR & Pediatric Safety certification and if they meet the child/teacher ratio at all times of operation (even during lunch shifts). Do they do background/criminal history checks on ALL employees?
