The Mindanao gum tree, also known as Rainbow Eucalyptus, has a beautiful multicolored trunk. I've seen pictures and read about them. And I'd like to see one/some when I'm on the Big Island next summer. Yes, I'm already planning.

We live near Naalehu Town, down near South Point. There are a couple of rainbow eucalyptus in our neighborhood, Discovery Harbour, and I have seen some on what we call the "upper" road between Naalehu and Pahala. So when you come down here to go to the Green Sand Beach or the Black Sand Beach, you can also see your eucalyptus trees. Send me a private message as your trip gets closer and I can give you more specific directions. And yes, they are really cool to see.

There is a small grove of them on Kekuanaoa St. in Hilo. There were many more trees, but were removed because the brittle wood snaps in high wind.

Im interested in seeing

I took some pictures of these on one of my Hawaii trips, but I think they were on Oahu rather than the Big Isalnd. They're beautiful trees!
