I am looking for airfare to kona hawaii. We already have our accomodations for July 4 through July 11, 2008. Problem is the airfare since there are five of us traveling. Any suggestions? We are flying out of Tulsa Oklahoma.

We always just shop around, mostly at Travelocity and Kayak. Also check the site for "Farecast". We fly out of Denver, and the lowest that we've found is in the high $500's. Expect at least one layover.

Thanks, the lowest I've found is 860 a person on Expedia, but I will try Kayak and Farecast. How long do you think we should wait and just bite the bullet and pay them them?

Teeirons, you've asked the question of the year. We are always afraid that if we don't buy early the deals will disappear, but then maybe if we wait the fares will come down......

Kayak will show you trends, and Farecaster will actually tell you if they think the fares are going to go up or down.

Travelocity, Orbitz, Priceline. Check Hawaiian, Aloha and ATA's websites. You might combine a flight you get from OK to take you to another discount one from L.A. or something. Just a thought. I've done this before.

I once got a deal out of SFO to Maui that was so good, I booked a separate ticket from Austin to SFO and it came out cheaper. Tulsa is like Austin, you can't get anywhere without going through a hub somewhere. Check flights out of LAX and SFO for deals. Also, most of those travel will let you set up an alert for particular destinations. You're flying during a holiday week, so it's tricky. Usually, I get my best deals between 21-30 days before the flight, but if you are traveling during a peak travel time, that doesn't always hold true. If it were me, I'd hold out a little longer.
