Has anybody heard anything about this online school? They use the K12 curriculum and I believe it is done almost completely online. They have it in other states. I HAVE heard that the last principal was corrupt, but I am interested in hearing family experiences. Thanks!

Googling pulled up:

Hawaii News Now
Quote:
The fired former head of Hawaii Technology Academy and his vice principal spent about $100,000 in state school funds on travel in one year, and an auditor found that "abuse, waste or fraud" likely occurred at the state's largest charter school.

Thanks! I'm really just hoping to find the experiences of families that went there not as concerns the corruption (which, really, is in every charter/cyber etc school out there) but the education.

My children went to the school since the first year it was open and we left right after the controversy happened. The school has changed dramatically after the issues and the teachers shifted where they provide online classes and very little support. We are now at the other cyber school Myron B Thompson Academy and are happy. Just a footnote I liked the principal and he cared and thats one of the other reasons we left.

I very rarely ever respond to things like this but I felt compelled to respond. It is amazing that people don't even look at anything but one piece of information from a newspaper to slam people. One thing my children were taught at HTA (by Mr. P) was to critically think and look at information on the web, to evaluate if it is true or not.....he always told parents as well to remember not everything on the internet is true, accurate or factual...it is up to you to decide and decipher what is and what is not. It has helped me and my children to remember this, maybe the person who cut and pasted the comment from the web which actually didn't answer the question should take a class on informational literacy and learn to read for information.
