I thought the different police stations on the Big Island had officers assigned according to need and experience. From what I've experienced, the officers in an area often "come and go" as their assignments change. I was not aware that Puna had a permanent roster of officers.
If I am correct in my understanding, then I would expect that the helpfulness of officers would be dependent on which individual officers were assigned there at the time. Some officers are probably more helpful than others, the same as for any other police station in any other county or state.
Thank you. And to clarify, I am trying to field information from experiences of citizens as to the integrity and willingness to serve of said Puna Police Officers.
Mangodog, why are you collecting that information?
Won't any such information be totally subjective? Everyone has their own different viewpoint of everything, from the price of milk to whether or not Hilo is very rainy. I bet you could ask that same question on any forum and get the same wide variety of answers.
I'm not trying to defend the PD, but I'm just trying to understand the purpose of your question.

Yes, precisely, my intent to hear of other's experiences. Do you not ask other people their opinions, points of view, experiences - or do you live in bubble where you are satisfied with everything you know between your own ears - only.
I have found great value in a conglomerate of other opinions in this life. I can not know everything without other's input. And indeed there is so much I want to learn .
Just word of mouth. I've not heard stories of the police being rude, but there are plenty of stories about the police lacking the will to deal with crime.
That is what I have heard also. I did not want to suggest things..... I want to hear from other's experiences. I have heard some sad things about meth crime and what you just wrote.
Apparently not, forum members are either all law-abiding citizens, or they stay out of Puna.
