I have DSL and work remotely with the rest of my crew being literally across the globe.

On a big plus side, Oceanic Time-Warner just upgraded speeds on The Big Island. Too bad they aren't near me, or I would pop for "Ultimate" internet.

Great to know, I find it difficult to tell which addresses/areas TW will provide a connection to and how long it will take them to get everything up. It appears there are point to point providers that require line of sight and a few other options, but then again hard to know what will really work and in what time frame for a general area.

Most of the folks I work with are in Canada, Argentina and India and we don't have any problems with webshares or getting to our source control in Canada. So it sounds odd that Hawaii would have any issues with a VPN.
I assume it was the resort that managed the condos was only allowing certain types of traffic to pass through, which limited our use to only web browsing and E-mail. If we actually lived here, we would need to find a place with decent Internet speed. We have 20 meg VDSL at home in Minnesota. We could even get 40 meg VDSL if we paid more. However, 20 meg is fast enough for us. Before we switched to VDSL, we were on cable Internet, which is inferior, since the speed slows down from 20 meg to about 3 meg when the neighborhood is streaming Netflix at night. We've had broadband for at least 20 years. We could never go back to dialup.
