Thank you OpenD - I need to re-read everything you wrote when I have not had hard cider. I will also check out the links you share.

Thank you for the July 4th info too.

Well, I would like to ask my two favorite trip planners, advisors what they would reccomend for me, my wife an a three year old toddler. If you guys could suggest to me two islands to visit during my trip. I know I woul like to see Ohau again. Maybe the big island again, though I didn't spent that much time on it. So, any other island would do. OPEND and Whitviper, I feel that you two know your away around and could help out a lot.

Hopefully we will be coming and returning via military Space A to save cost. We would also be looking some of the various military camps to stay at. Depending how it all go we will be there two to three weeks. With a rental car. We wan to see Wikiee, Honolu, a lot of the surrounding towns, Schofield Barracks (My old Home).

Travel the back roads in the mountains and the passes, the North Shore and more. Then, either go to Maui or other island and do it all over. When possible We want to sat on a military base/camp for the cheaper prices, Does the military get a discount on inter-island? For things to run smoothly, what you sugges the best month or parts of a month to be there.

I am a 68 year old man with a 24 year old wife and a three year old daughter. Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

In terms of cheapest prices and weather, October usually gets you the best deals, it's a fairly slow month and solidly in the dry season.

You'll need some other forum members to chip in on all the military hook ups, I don't have knowledge of those. No military flight discounts unfortunately.

I say, let's not hijack this thread, which is about a 4th of July getaway to the Big Island. I think it's better if you start your own thread, in the Hawaii forum.
