Plenty of people have campers and live in them or host guests. It's one of those non-enforced rules, as there are plenty.

If it's a 35 ft camper expect about 2,000 - 3,000 buckaroos for the shipment. You may be able to put some stuff inside, but you can't pack it to the gills.

If you haven't bought one yet, check craigslist as well. They have a fairly busy RV section for the Big Isle.

Plan for a fixed roof to cover it: The sun and rain do a number on those plastics and rubber pieces. And to the electric of course!

I am thinking of a small "pup" camping trailer. It does not have a toilet or water hookup. It is basically for one/two people to sleep in and it has a trunk that is a kitchen, with a small gas stove and gas fridge. I would use it to sleep in when I visit my daughter in Hilo as she has a small house with no guest room. I also would use it for camping along the Kona coast which has a few beaches that are not "parks" but great family campsites. Does this sound like a good idea to you?

When we tell family that we have a small house with no guest room, its usually because we would prefer for them to stay at a hotel or B&B nearby. Because our house is small. Sometimes its not just the lack of guest room. Small house. Privacy. Family. (hint, hint)

Also, if you are a family member reading this, we are talking about somebody else. You are welcome to stay in our living room any time.
