As a Minnesota Golden Gopher fan I can agree just a little bit that being a Buckeye fan might be considered a character flaw in some circles, but that's about the only thing I agree with in laurarice's posting. I think it is entirely possible to bring mainland interests with you and still have plenty of room to add new experiences. There are plenty of Hawaiian activities that you can participate in that will not tax your ticker nor challenge your wife's mobility issues. I think Dreaming of Hawaii can tell you more about how to accomplish this in Discovery Harbor.

And her statement regarding East Hawaii being more "Hawaiian" is a jaw dropper to me. As a resident of South Kona (Hoopuloa area) this has not been my experience at all. Is this the impression that others on this forum have?

I could be wrong, but my understanding has always been that the largest portion of Hawaiian Homelands are on the windward side of the Island of Hawai'i, and largest portion of the population of kanaka maoli people also lives on the windward side.

There's a map of the Homelands here...

Aloha Shorty1952 & OpenD - Thanks for your helpful inputs. I wasn't sure what to think of the "more Hawaiian" comment. But I do think Laura was just trying to be helpful. After all, she IS a Buckeye!

Shorty1952 - Gophers are waaaay better than Wolverines or Spartans.

Buckeyes could get back into the College Football Playoff but Alabama will be number if they beat Miss St this weekend. Lot of craziness left this college football season, any one loss team still has a chance and the Buckeyes are back to being ranked 7th so they still have a chance.

Isn't OSU also known for an <in>famous football coach who slapped an opponent football player? Real class.

Thumbs up Big Island Buckeye Fans

The Buckeyes are now #6 in the CFP rankings. Gonna need a lot of help to get into the top 4.
#1 Alabama (and they'd get my vote)
#2 Oregon
#3 Florida State
#4 Mississippi State
#5 TCU
