I am 75 years old and am looking for a house to rent in the 96720 zip code area. I recently moved from AZ with my son (special needs) and a 3 year old English Bulldog named Liberty Belle.

I am a responsible person having 2 homes that are listed for sale. 1 in AZ and a condo in Waikoloa (not pet friendly).

I am presently living with my son in Hilo while recuperating from surgery. I have permanently moved to Hilo but need a place of my own to live that will accept a companion/service dog. Liberty Belle is house-broken and very friendly. She does not bark unless a total stranger appears at the door.

I am looking for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, covered or enclosed lanai, and a fenced back yard home. If there is a "ohana" instead of a 3rd bedroom that would be great. I would like to be able to move in March 2015.

I am a "neat freak" so home will be properly taken care of. I am also a retired interior decorator and love working outside doing landscaping.

If anyone has suggestions as to where to look for rental home please reply back.

Craig's List is one of the resources for finding rentals, although there are some in the newspaper. You could inquire with some property management firms. But, as you are finding, rentals in Hilo are pretty scarce right now. A lot of folks just relocated from Pahoa because of the lava flow.
