Some plants do really well when watered with grey water with the soaps and detergents. Bananas are often planted around outdoor showers in the tropics because they like the soapy water and the plants provide privacy. Likewise many kitchen sinks just drain onto the ground outside and large leafy plants seem to like it. My theory is that the suds either deter pests and/or create a pH change that allow the plants to more easily absorb nutrients. Having an outdoor washing machine that drains onto the ground here isn't uncommon even in homes that are hooked up to sewer systems.

I have seen numerous people state that greywater is not legal in hawaii but that is untrue. Both composting toilets and greywater are legal in hawaii.

Composting toilets are encouraged in areas that are not connected to municipal water.

Greywater is legal as long as the system is designed in a proper way, ie subsurface irrigation no sprayers. Keep away from vegetables, use of mulch basins etc.

You can visit this link on composting toilets, https://www.homesteadinhawaii.com/composttoilet or www.homesteadinhawaii.com/greywaterlegal.
