I know I mentioned this farmers market in my other post, and it was met with "there is??" so I thought I would put up some more information about it, in case anyone is interested. The address is 1990 Kinoole St
Hilo, HI 96720. Here is what I found posted about it online (yelp):

"...It appears that this market is sponsored by a local trade organization (Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, non-profit established in 1950 to "Work for the solution of the problems of the farm, the farm home and the rural community by use of the recognized advantages of organized action").

Anyways, I've heard and read from a few sources that everything you find here is 100% Hawaii grown products (local to this county)...

Open Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 12 Noon. Come early as the popular items are gone quickly. You'll find mostly locals here, not many tourist trinkets here. (posted on yelp by Jesse W.)"

Hope this is useful to someone! I know I will check it out when I get there..its a little closer to me than the bayfront one (although I will end up there too).

Thank you for your post about Hawaii Island's farmer's markets. A best kept secret is the Waimea (aka Kamuela) farmer's market Saturdays, starting after first light. It is on the grounds of the native Hawaiian community center just east (or Honoka'a) of Waimea town, before Mana Road. Vendors cook breakfast and sell Waimea grown fruits, veggies, plants, goat cheese, wreaths, cut flowers and other goodies. The first Saturday of the month vendors come from all over the Big Island. Some jewelry, no trinkets. Definitely a place to run into friends.

I will most definitely have to check that one out too! Thanks! I love farmers markets, and they are far and few between here in Illinois - and they are nothing like the ones in Hawaii I'm positive! I am looking forward to expanding my experiences for sure. :-)

Oh, the Kinoole one is at the same time as the Waimea one. We are almost always up in the Waimea area on Saturday mornings. I wish there was more than one Saturday morning in each week!

I know it's a lot smaller, but we have a Farmer's Market in Naalehu on Wednesday mornings as well as Saturdays. It is all local produce, crafts, and coffee. We have great Ka'u coffee and the people who grow and roast it are at the Farmer's Market selling it. You can't miss it -- the highway runs through town and it is right at the center (across from the Punalu'u Bakery).

mmmm I bet the Ka'u coffee is ono! I am a coffee fanatic, and have developed a love for the Hawaiian coffees! My wonderful ipo sends me little care packages filled with different coffees, and I have found a place over here that sells 100% Kona coffee as well...though, expensive for sure, it's so worth it! I am looking forward to discovering all the hidden, and no so hidden joys of Hawaii life!

Note: City-Data automatically and incorrectly created a link in my post above to Kauai Island's Waimea. Hawaiians use the same place names over and over. I tried to correct it but could not. The farmer's market I referred to is located in zip code 96743, "Kamuela." It was called Waimea prior to the founding of the Parker Ranch, I believe, and the locals still call our upcountry Big Island town Waimea. But Kauai's Waimea may have a farmer's market too!

Thanks for the clarification Kohala Coast Tennis! I am making note of all the different farmers markets...despite that link being the wrong one, it did have a great list of the Big Island's markets, so it was still quite useful! Mahalo!

I think there is a Waimea on each island as well as two Ninole's on this island.

There are now two markets up in Waimea/Kamuela on Saturday mornings. The first big one by the Hawaiian Homelands building near Mana Road and now there is one over by the park at the other end of town behind the red and white school there. We haven't stopped in to that one yet, it is still fairly new.
