Need to pick up car in Hilo (car rental, rental)

Does anyone know the best & cheapest transportation to Hilo to pick up my car?? Willing to take bus or plane. Need info on what airline or what bus info.

It would help if you told us where you were coming from. Lots of difference between getting there by bus or by plane.

Assuming that you're traveling from the Kona side to Hilo, the "Hele On" bus is probably the cheapest way to get there -- since it's free. Here's a link to the schedule...

Flying might be the quickest way to get there. Island Air Flight 1458 usually flies from Kona to Hilo at 5:30PM for $20 (before taxes, etc.). However, you'd have to arrange transportation to the airport in Kona and from the airport in Hilo to your car pickup location. In addition, I wouldn't advise driving from Hilo to Kona during the evening, so you might want to factor in overnight lodging.

Renting a car in Kona and dropping it off in Hilo is another option that's fairly convenient. For around $50 (before taxes, gas, etc.), you can rent a compact car from the Thrifty car rental location in Kona in the morning, drop it off in Hilo around noon, and drive your own car back to Kona by mid-afternoon.

Another alternative is to find a friend or neighbor in Kona that's willing to drive you to Hilo....

Verify this info, but that was what we were informed this past March.
